DIGITAL CBT-E WORK WITH TEAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
Club Majority and the Centre for Research on Eating Disorders at Oxford (CREDO), led by Professor Christopher Fairburn, are collaborating to improve access to Digital CBTe (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Eating Disorders) among individuals from underrepresented ethnic and faith communities. The partnership focuses on addressing inequalities in access, representation, and engagement in eating disorder research and treatment.
Club Majority is supporting an ongoing feasibility randomised controlled trial, which is comparing guided Digital CBTe with a waiting list followed by self-help. A key objective of this trial is to improve recruitment and participation among groups that have been historically underrepresented, including South Asian, Black African, Black Caribbean, Muslim, Sikh, Hindu, Jewish, and other communities.
Contributor groups will provide input on how to make recruitment more inclusive and accessible, through activities such as co-designing posters, advising on communication methods, and identifying relevant social media platforms and community settings for outreach. This work would complement an existing group of contributors already involved in the work.
Alongside this, there are plans to further raise awareness of the Digital CBTe work more broadly.
